Ubuntu 8.04 gets named : Hardy Heron

The Ubuntu site yesterday announced the naming of its upcoming version of Ubuntu 8.04 as “Hardy Heron” which will succeed the Gutsy Gibbon, Ubuntu 7.10 which has not still been released(scheduled to be released in October 2007).The Hardy Heron is estimated to be released in April 2008.

For those who dont know,Ubuntu is a community developed, linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.

This version of Ubuntu 8.04 will not only produce an easy-to-use, reliable, free software platform but will also have Long Term support (LTS) and be supported with security updates for five years on the server and three years on the desktop.
