More storage coming to GMail!!!!!
The GMail official Blog today posted that they are increasing the pace of the counters so that they can increase the speed of storage being provided to the users.Just now I checked the storage and it has reached to 3154 MB while yesterday it was just 2900 MB. Many sites are also reporting that Google will increase the storage capacity to 4 Gb but it hasn’t been confirmed till yet. Here is what posted on the GMail blog-
In April 2005, we started increasing Gmail storage as part of our “Infinity+1″ storage plan. At that time, we realized we’d never reach infinity, but we promised to keep giving Gmail users more space as we were able. That said, a few of you are using Gmail so much that you’re running out of space, so to make good on our promise, today we’re announcing we are speeding up our counter and giving out more free storage.
And, just in case you are like my friend Miriam, whose sister sends minute to minute photo updates of her kids in RAW format, then we still have a paid storage program where you can get your fix, and we’re giving you more space than before for the same price.
By the way, businesses, schools and organizations using Google Apps to get Gmail on their own custom addresses (like Google does for our @google.com accounts) will get a storage boost in the coming days, too. Standard and Education Edition storage (now at 2GB) will begin matching Gmail’s counter, and Premier Edition users get a whopping 25 GB (up from 10 GB).

Motorola Introduces New Phones!!!
Motorola Inc., plagued by sluggish sales and in need of hit products to spark a turnaround, announced nine new cell phone handsets today, available this quarter. Most prominent among them is a luxury version of the Razr2, the latest successor to the once top-selling Razr model of cellphones; the new device, retailing at $250 to $300, is touted as a potential holiday gift with gold-plated accents, snakeskin texture, ultra-slim design and storage of up to 1,000 songs, among other features. Pimptastic.
Motorola also introduced seven new W-series phones - the W156, W160, W175, W180, W206, W213, and W377 (hooray for undescriptive model numbers). As far as new features go, the W160, W180, W213 and W377 have an FM radio function, which requires headphones, while all except the W377 contain Motorola’s proprietary CrystalTalk technology, which automatically adjusts audio for clear calls in noisy environments. "These devices are designed for consumers who are purchasing their first mobile phone, for those who simply want to talk and message on an easy-to-use phone or for those who are looking to upgrade a basic phone," said Stu Reed, president of Motorola Mobile Devices.
And, last but not least in the lineup, is the Moto U9, a lightweight phone and music player with clamshell design and stereo Bluetooth wireless technology, a two-megapixel camera with 8x zoom and multiple messaging capabilities. Unfortunately, US users may have to wait a while to get their mits on the U9 as the phone is only pegged for introduction in Asia, Latin America and Europe at the moment. Motorola executives told analysts last month that a series of innovative new cell phones would help break the company out of a slump that has coincided with a sales decline for the once-iconic Razr.

Google Acquires Jaiku
Google today acquired the new micro-blogging service called Jaiku. Here is what the official Google Blog reads-
Technology has made staying in touch with your friends and family both easier and harder: living a fast-paced, on-the-go lifestyle is easier (and a lot of fun), but it’s more difficult to keep track of everyone when they’re running around at warp speed. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’ve acquired Jaiku, a company that’s been hard at work developing useful and innovative applications for staying in touch with the people you care about most — regardless of whether you’re at a computer or on a mobile phone.
Current Jaiku users can still use the service normally, and new folks can sign up for an invitation to the service when we’re ready to expand. We plan to use the ideas and technology behind Jaiku to make compelling and useful products. Although we don’t have definite plans to announce at this time, we’re excited about helping drive the next round of developments in web and mobile technology.
We wish a hearty Google welcome to Jaiku, and are looking forward to working together on new and innovative ways of keeping people connected.
Jaiku is an activity stream and presence sharing service that works from the Web and mobile phones. Jaiku, Ltd. was founded in February, 2006 by Jyri Engeström and Petteri Koponen from Finland. The service was released on the Web in July 2006. Jaiku is based in Helsinki.
Take a look at Jaiku here and more info about the acquisition here.
Windows XP SP3 to Include Some Vista Features
A Web site that leaked details of Windows XP Service Pack 3 over the weekend claimed that the update includes several new features, including some borrowed from Windows Vista.
According to NeoSmart Technologies, Windows XP SP3 build 3205, which was released to beta testers on Sunday, includes four new features among the 1,000-plus individual hot fixes and patches that have been issued since XP2’s debut three years ago.
Features backported from Vista, said NeoSmart, include Network Access Protection (NAP), an enterprise policy enforcement technology that inspects client PCs before they access a corporate network, then updates the machines if necessary or blocks them if they don’t meet specified security criteria.
Other additions range from a kernel module containing several encryption algorithms that can be accessed by third-party developers, to a new Windows activation model that doesn’t require users to enter a product key.
Microsoft had previously announced SP3 support for NAP, which is part of Windows Vista and will be included in the not-yet-finalized Windows Server 2008.
Windows XP SP3, which Microsoft has said will be released early in 2008, will be one more move by the developer to extend the lifespan of the six-year-old operating system. Last month, for example, Microsoft gave Windows XP a five-month reprieve by pushing back the end of retail sales and sales of XP-powered PCs by large resellers to June 30, 2008.

Halo 3 wasn’t the last game in the Halo series!!!!!!!
Bungie’s Community Leader Brian Jarrard has revealed that Bungie are already at work on another Halo game, but strictly speaking it is not Halo 3 but is based on the Halo universe and is a collaboration between Bungie and Peter Jackson. Jarrard simply stated that Halo 3 was definitely not the last Bungie Halo game. Moreover, he tried to dodge a question about how they would pitch future titles as they are an independent company which suggests that such a title could actually go multi-platform.
1UP: For all the super fans: does this mean Bungie won’t work on whatever "Halo 4" turns out to be?
Jarrard: Well we are already at work on another Halo game — I wouldn’t call it "Halo 4", but it is based in the Halo Universe and represents a collaboration between Bungie and Peter Jackson. Halo 3 was definitely not the last Bungie Halo game.
1UP: And perhaps most importantly, this means we’re going to finally see some progress on Pimps at Sea, right?
Jarrard: Fortunately, Bungie LLC does retain ownership of the Pimps at Sea franchise so anything is possible!
