Guitar Hero III: Coldplay Track Pack - Available Today

Xbox Live and Coldplay fans can have access to a trio of Coldplay tunes today.  It will cost you 500 MS Points but Chris Martin is worth it.  There have been a few other releases this month and you can check them out below. 
Coldplay Track Pack (available June 19)

Songs: "Shoot the Runner" by Kasabian (memorable performance from 2007 Festival), "I Predict A Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs (2008 Festival headliner), and "Problems" by The Sex Pistols (2008 Festival headliner).

LEGO Indiana Jones Demo Available

The LEGO Star Wars video games are one of my personal favorites. The inventive title is also great for kids too, because a lightsaber that breaks a few lego bricks apart is much easier to pass by parents than the alternative. Now there’s a new LEGO game based on Indiana Jones and the only place to get the game demo (on any platform) before the movie comes out is at GamesForWindows.com.

The full game has 60+ playable characters and plenty of familiar scenes. The PC game also supports widescreen and Xbox 360 control (for Windows).

2008 Xbox 360 Line-up Revealed

Too Human

Microsoft and LucasArts Premiere “LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures” at GamesforWindows.com

The movie won’t hit theaters for another week, but fans don’t have to wait any longer to get a taste of the adventure Indiana Jones™ has to offer. Microsoft Corp. and LucasArts are debuting an exclusive playable demo of the upcoming Games for Windows-branded “LEGO® Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures” on the official Games for Windows Web site, which can be reached by visiting www.lucasarts.com/games/legoindianajones/demo or http://www.gamesforwindows.com. The official Games for Windows Web site is the only place to experience the game on any platform before the release of the new Indiana Jones movie.

Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 prices in Asia

Microsoft is ratcheting up the battle against rivals Sony and Nintendo in the hotly contested Asian market, cutting the price of its Xbox 360 between 5 percent and nearly 20 percent in four areas throughout the region.

The price of the 20GB model was cut 17 percent in Taiwan, 10.7 percent in Hong Kong, and 5 percent in South Korea. The steepest reduction was made in Singapore, where that version of the gaming console dropped 19.5 percent and the company cut the price of two other models: The 120GB Elite was reduced 12.5 percent and the Arcade, which has no hard drive, was cut by 13 percent.

At the same time, Sony went in the opposite direction in Singapore and raised prices for its 40GB PlayStation 3 to $394. Nintendo, for its part, said late last week that it had no plans to cut prices on either the Wii console or its DS handheld in any regions.

"This price drop is part of Microsoft’s ongoing strategy to bring Xbox’s high-definition gaming and entertainment experience to an even wider user base," Microsoft said in a statement. The move follows price reductions up to 28 percent in some European markets last monday

Blu-ray on Xbox 360 Not Going to Happen

The post published by us about the Blue Ray on XBOX 360 was nothing but just the rumors.  Chris Lanier in his blog post have pointed out some of the serious issues which strongly disagrees with the addition of Blue Ray to Xbox.Here is what it reads-

Jason Unger of CE Pro does have the basic rundown of the issue, but don’t believe that Blu-ray is on the way to the Xbox 360.

Among the reasons behind these are the issues which are strongly against addition of Blue Ray to Xbox 360.

Quickly…

• Blu-ray support means adding a Java-based BD-J interactivity layer to the Xbox 360. Highly doubtful to ever happen
• The video/audio codecs are not really in question here, both HD DVD and Blu-ray use the same basic codecs.
• Blu-ray has extra DRM in BD+. The Xbox 360 can already do AACS, but they are not going to add BD+ support. Microsoft has been opposed to it from the start.

Blu-ray Xbox 360 Planned By Microsoft

Rumours were circulating today that Microsoft is set to dump HD DVD and bring out a Blu ray Xbox 360 by as early as May 2008. The move will allow the Company to go head to head with the Sony PS3 gaming console which has been credited with being one of the main reasons that retailers have preferred Blu-ray over Toshiba’s HD DVD.

Insiders at Microsoft in the USA have told SmartHouse that Microsoft has already configured a standalone Blu-ray player that can be connected into an Xbox 360 and that subject to internal marketing and sales approvals the model could be on sale within 3 months.

The Company has also been working on a built in Blu-ray player however insiders are claiming that Microsoft see the HD format battle moving online with consumers offered 1080p movie and content files as a download as opposed to having to buy a HD DVD or Blu-ray disc.

Both Intel and Microsoft have been supporters of the HD DVD format that is set to be killed off this week.
