Sony to Launch VAIO AR7, FZ4, SZ7 Penryn Laptops

sony-vaio-tz20-thumb  Sony has prepared the VAIO AR7, FZ4, and SZ7 notebooks, featuring the Intel’s first 45-nanometer Core 2 Duo Mobile processors, codenamed “Penryn”, and the “Santa Rosa Refresh” mobile platform.

The leaked specifications of the 17-inch Sony VAIO VGN-AR730E/B, VGN-AR750E/B, and VGN-AR760U/B say these entertainment laptops will be available with the Intel Core 2 Duo “Penryn” T8100 CPU at 2.1GHz, while the top of the line VGN-AR790U/B features the T9300 at 2.5GHz. The systems come with 2GB or 4GB of RAM, and 320GB or 400GB hard drives, depending on model, as well as with Blu-Ray optical drives. Prices of the “Penryn”-based VAIO AR7 notebooks listed on Monstronix website range from $1,678 to $3,257.

One of the 15.4-inch Sony VAIO FZ4 notebooks - the VGN-FZ410E/B - comes with the Core 2 Duo T8100. This mainstream laptop, incorporating 2GB of system memory, a 250GB hard drive, and the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 integrated chip, is available for preorder through Amazon.com for $1,249.99.

According to Monstronix, the 13.3-inch Sony VAIO VGN-SZ730E/C and VGN-SZ750N/C notebooks also feature the 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo T8100. The VAIO VGN-SZ760N/C has the T8300 processor at 2.4GHz, while the higher-end VGN-SZ770N/C and VGNSZ791N/X utilize the already mentioned T9300. The leaked VGN-SZ7 models will ship with a 200GB to 250GB hard drive, and 2GB, 3GB and 4GB of main memory. These laptops have “RazorThin” LCD panels with LED backlighting. The prices range from $1,678 to $2,468.

The Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile 45nm processors are claimed to provide a longer battery life, better performance, and cooler operation than the previous generation of 65nm Core 2 Duos, codenamed “Merom”. The “Penryns” are designed for the “Santa Rosa Refresh” platform, which will additionally enable a use of an optional third-party chip for hardware decoding of high definition multimedia content.

HP Releases Pavilion dv2700, dv6700, dv9700 Notebook Series

nb_extrememultimedia_190 Hewlett-Packard has replaced this morning its Pavilion dv2500, dv6500, and dv9500 consumer notebook series with the new HP Pavilion dv2700, dv6700 and the dv9700.

Customers now can choose between the Intel-powered dv6700t and dv9700t, or AMD processor-based dv6700z and dv9700z. The dv6700 laptops feature 15.4-inch displays, while the dv9700 has a 17-inch screen. There are also the 14.1-inch dv2700t with Intel CPU and special edition models - the Pavilion dv6700tse, dv2700tse, and dv2700tbw.

Our first impression is that the new HP Pavilion notebook PCs have the same specifications as their precursors. We will report soon if there are any hardware or design novelties in the released laptops.

Lenovo L3000 Y410 Available in the U.S.

lenovo_l3000_y410 Lenovo L3000 Y410, the company’s 14.1-inch consumer-oriented notebook, is now available for purchase in the United States.

The L3000 Y410 features up to Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 processor at 1.66GHz, a 667MHz frontside bus, the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, and 2GB of system memory expandable to 4GB, as well as a 160GB hard drive, and a DVD burner. The laptop’s 14.1″-diagonal WXGA (1280 x 800) display has a glossy finish, and is accompanied by an integrated 1.3-megapixel camera.

According to Lenovo, this webcam, when combined with VeriFace face recognition software, can help users to control access to the notebook. The Y410 also stands out with its sound features, which include two speakers and a sub-woofer, Dolby Home Theater technology, and the Audio DJ, allowing CD playback without booting the operating system.

The Lenovo’s Y410 provides the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g) module, an Ethernet LAN connection, and a 56K modem. It also has three USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, a 6-in-1 media card reader, a FireWire port, and VGA and S-video outputs.

The 5.2 pound Lenovo L3000 Y410, comes with a six cell battery, which provides approximately four hours of run time, the PC maker says.

This notebook starts at $699 and ships with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled. Currently, it can be purchased through Staples, Office Depot, and Micro Center.

Fujitsu LifeBook A6110 Available

The Fujitsu LifeBook A6110, the company’s new affordable 15.4-inch laptop starting at $799 after rebates, is now available for purchase.

Based on the Intel “Santa Rosa” platform, the multimedia-oriented LifeBook A6110 series notebooks feature a Core 2 Duo processor and the Intel GM965 chipset with the GMA X3100 integrated graphics. The A6110 features 1GB or 2GB of system memory and a 160GB or 200GB hard drive, depending on configuration. There are also a DVD burner and the 1GB Intel Turbo Memory module for faster system booting and responsiveness. The notebook’s 15.4” widescreen display provides 1280-by-800 screen resolution.

The Fujitsu Lifebook A6110 features the Atheros Super AG 802.11a/b/g wireless, or the Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN 802.11a/b/g/draft-n module, depending on model. The laptop also has Gigabit Ethernet and 56k modem connections, five USB ports, PC Card and ExpressCard slots, a 4-in-1 media card reader, and a Firewire port, as well as VGA and S-Video outputs, and optional web camera and fingerprint reader.

The A6110 weighs approximately 6.6 pounds with a 6-cell battery, which provides a run time of up to 2.25 hours, according to the product specifications. There are also a spill resistant keyboard and a touch-pad with Point and Write technology for short note taking.

The four available LifeBook A6110 models ship with Windows Vista Home Premium preloaded and can be purchased through the Fujitsu’s online store.

Fujitsu Unveils LifeBook V1010 Budget Laptop

fujitsu logo Fujitsu today announced the affordable LifeBook V1010 15.4-inch laptop series, starting at $799.

The basic Fujitsu LifeBook V1010 configuration features the Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2130 processor at 1.86GHz, 1GB of DDR2 system memory, a 120GB hard drive, a DVD burner, and the Intel GMA 950 integradted graphics, managing the 15.4″ widescreen display with 1280-by-800 resolution. Customers can also purchase the V1010 with the Core 2 Duo Processor T5200 at 1.6 Ghz and 2GB of RAM for an additional $100.

This budget laptop has the Atheros Super AG (802.11a/b/g) wireless module, Ethernet LAN and 56K modem connections, three USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, and a VGA output.

According to product specifications, the LifeBook V1010 weighs approximately 6.2 pounds, with a six-cell battery, which provides up to 2.25 hours run time.

The notebook ships with Windows Vista Business or Windows XP Professional, depending on purchaser’s choice. It is available through the Fujitsu’s online store.

Dell XPS M1730 Available in Three Configurations

After the release of the first Dell XPS M1730, priced at $2,999, other configurations of the PC maker’s new 17-inch gaming notebook are available for purchase.

The long awaited XPS M1730 is based on the Intel PM965 chipset supporting Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors. All of the currently available configurations feature dual NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT video cards operating in SLI mode, the AGEIA PhysX 100M physics processing unit, delivering “realistic movement and environmental interaction at incredible speeds without degrading overall performance”, and 2GB of DDR2 system memory, expandable to 4GB. The two 8700M GT GPUS provide a total of 512MB (2×256MB) video memory, while the notebook’s 17″ widescreen glossy display has a resolution of 1920-by-1200 pixels.

Currently, there are three Dell XPS M1730 configurations. The basic $2,999 configuration comes with the Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 processor at 2.4GHz, a 200GB SATA hard drive at 7200rpm rotational speed, a DVD burner, the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g module, and Windows Vista Premium Edition operating system. For $3,599, Dell adds a Blu-Ray optical drive and the PRO/Wireless 4965 802.11a/g/draft-n to the basic M1730. The higher-end $4,506 model features the Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900 CPU at 2.8GHz, with support for overclocking to 3.2GHz, two hard drives providing 400GB of storage capacity, a DVD burner, the 4965 802.11a/g/draft-n wireless module, a built-in Bluetooth, an additional battery, and Windows Vista Ultimate.

In general, the Dell XPS M1730 provides dual-link DVI-I video output with support for 30-inch displays, a HDMI and VGA outputs via DVI adapters, and a S-Video TV out, as well as a Gigabit Ethernet port, a Bluetooth option, an ExpressCard slot, a 8-in-1 media card reader, four USB ports, a Firewire port, and a Infra-Red receiver. There are also built in 2-megapixel web camera and the Logitech’s GamePanel LCD, which allows gamers to view game stats, create new macros and track important system information without leaving the game.

Dell also offers optional built-in mobile broadband connectivity with a choice of carriers, including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless.

The $2,999 XPS M1730 comes with Sapphire Blue lid color, while the $3,599 and $4,506 units additionally provide the Smoke Grey, Crimson Red, a Bone White options.

This gaming laptop, advertised as “The Beast” weighs 10.6 pound with a standard 9-cell battery and has a 2-inch thick chassis.

Sony unvails the new VAIO NR Laptop series

Sony Electronics today unveiled a line of fashionable, entry- level PCs — the VAIO® NR series starting at about $750 — which is the lowest-priced notebook the company has ever introduced.

The new series is available in three colors: Wenge — a rich brown with copper accents; silk — a bright white with a matte finish; and granite — a silver hue with natural tones.

The notebooks feature a textured chassis with a comfortable, fabric-like feel that is pleasing to the eye and cool to the touch. Their slim, modern design incorporates rounded corners and beveled edges, making them easier to insert and remove from carrying cases when on-the-go.

The NR models feature a 15.4-inch (measured diagonally) widescreen display with XBRITE-ECO™ LCD technology, which delivers razor-sharp details and crisp, bold colors.

The PCs also incorporate an Intel® Core™2 Duo processor (on select models) for fast processing speeds, longer battery life and enhanced wireless computing. The units come pre-installed with Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium.

Acer Ferrari 1100 Ultraportable Announced

acer_ferrari_1000_1Acer has announced the Ferrari 1100, which is the latest addition to the PC maker’s Ferrari-branded notebook series.

According to the Acer’s website for the German market, the Ferrari 1100 is an ultraportable laptop featuring a 12.1-inch display, and an AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processor. This notebook incorporates the ATI Radeon X1250 integrated graphics, a Dolby certified surround sound system, a hard disk drive of up to 250GB, and a slot-loading DVD burner. The Acer Ferrari 1100 has a built-in 802.11a/b/g/draft-N wireless module, and a fingerprint reader, the press release says.

The laptop features a carbon fiber chassis, and weighs below 4.4 pounds.

It comes with Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Business, or Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled.

Currently there is no information on pricing and availability.
