As Xbox 360 readies for the next wave of audience expansion, Microsoft Corp. today announced a new Xbox experience that will reinvent home entertainment from the inside out, changing the way we play games, watch movies and TV shows, and even become contestants in game shows. It all begins this fall with a bold new look and feel that is fun, social and simple to use.
The announcement was made during the E3 Media and Business Summit in Los Angeles. It came amid the unveiling of an exclusive partnership with Netflix Inc. that will give Xbox 360 users instant access to more than 10,000 feature films and television shows with a click of a button.
Also on the docket: The best and broadest entertainment lineup the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system has ever seen. In its strongest broadening play yet, Xbox announced Xbox LIVE Primetime, the next evolution in game shows slated for Xbox LIVE this fall; TV shows and movies from world leaders in entertainment including NBC Universal, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, SCI FI Channel and USA Network domestically and Constantin and MGM internationally; and blockbuster games “Lips,” “Rock Band 2,” “Scene It? Box Office Smash,” “You’re in the Movies” and the much anticipated “Final Fantasy XIII.”

Looks like we finally have heard some news on when @live.com e-mail addresses will be released. Jacky Mok, another Product Manager for Windows Live in Toronto, has posted some information saying when they will be released, he says will be available “in the fall”, along with “a rich family of products” around the same time.
According to the blog entry on livechronicles.spaces.live.com, there will be no migration of address names from current hotmail addresses, so if you have blank@hotmail.com, there’s no guarantee you will get blank@live.cam. It’s still on a first come, first served basis like every other e-mail services. Apparently country code addresses will only be available in countries outside the US, so that a Canadian will be able to get an @live.ca address, but not an @live.com one.

Some statistics for the closing beta:
* This beta started on 27th March 2006.
* There were a total of 3080 registered users in the managed beta.
* They received 832 bugs and 358 suggestions over the entire beta
* The newsgroup has had over 3500 posts.
Feedback has closed and no more submissions are being taken on, but it’s important to stress that only the managed beta is closing - the product will still be in beta for some time yet. The newsgroups will remain active for a while, and access to the beta product will still be ongoing. There will be a next release of this product it’s important to say, as development to v2 of the product is going ahead. All current testers will be shifted across to the new beta, just as Windows Live Messenger testers will be onto 9.0.
What next? A new build is just around the corner - shouldn’t be far off at all. Maybe not the final product, but a new build isn’t far off at all.
