Upload Photos to Facebook with New Windows Live Photo Gallery Plug-in

Posted by Ankur Mittal 18 November, 2008 (0) Comment

Michael Palermiti, Program Manager on the Windows Live Digital Memories Experience Team (the awesome people responsible for Windows Live Photo Gallery and Windows Live Movie Maker), has posted about a new plug-in for Windows Live Photo Gallery Beta that allows you to upload photos directly to Facebook. Using LiveUpload to Facebook, users can configure multiple Facebook accounts to upload photos to in Windows Live Photo Gallery. Upload to Facebook supports the ability to upload photos to existing albums on Facebook or create new ones.

Download: LiveUpload to Facebook

What’s even better about the LiveUpload to Facebook plug-in is that it takes advantage of Windows Live Photo Gallery’s new People Tags feature. That means if you tag a person you are also friends with on Facebook – once you upload the photo to Facebook that tag will automatically appear on the published photo.

You can download the Windows Live Photo Gallery Beta, along with Betas for the rest of the Windows Live Essentials suite, at download.live.com today. The plug-in only works with the Beta.

Microsoft cuts apps from Windows 7

Posted by Ankur Mittal 23 September, 2008 (0) Comment

Microsoft has decided that Windows 7 won’t include built-in programs for e-mail, photo editing, and movie making, as was done with Windows Vista, CNET News.com has learned.
The software maker included Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Mail, and Windows Movie Maker as part of Vista, but later chose to offer separate downloadable Windows Live programs that essentially replaced those components with versions that could connect to online services from Microsoft and others.
Microsoft told CNET News late Monday that it has decided to remove those features entirely from Windows 7 and instead offer only the service-connected Windows Live versions as optional free downloads. Earlier on Monday, Microsoft had declined to say how it was handling things.
In a follow-up interview on Monday, Windows Vista general manager Brian Hall said Microsoft made the decision to remove the tools from Windows for several reasons, including a desire to issue new operating system releases more quickly than it has in the past. The move also removes the confusion of offering and supporting two different programs that perform essentially similar functions.

Posted by Ankur Mittal 10 August, 2008 (0) Comment

The guys at liveside have reported that livesino have found in Windows Live Help revealing and confirming Wave 3 features in the Windows Live Mail, Photo Gallery and Toolbar. Here’s a summary of what’s they discovered:

  • Windows Live Photo Gallery:
Add people tags (Textual data attached to a photo to refine its definition and meaning by identifying the person or persons in the photo. You can sort your photos according to what people tags they have, making it easier to find photos of your friends and family.) to your photos to make sorting and finding photos of your friends and family easier. You can create people tags and add them to your photos at any time.
    WLW3
  • Windows Live Mail:
Calendars: You can create calendars and events whether you’re signed in to Windows Live Mail or not. However, if you do sign in, any calendars that you’ve created in Windows Live Calendar Beta are automatically imported into Windows Live Mail, and changes that you make in either Windows Live Mail or Windows Live Calendar Beta are reflected in the other. Also, your calendars are available from any computer on which you sign in to Windows Live Mail. If you don’t sign in, you can access your calendars only from the computer on which you created them. For more information, see About calendars.
You can also update when events occur and schedule events to occur regularly over a period of days, weeks, months, or years. If you sign in to Windows Live Mail with your Windows Live ID, Windows Live Mail can send you reminders (A scheduled message that Windows Live Mail sends to you to remind you that an event in your calendar is about to occur) before each event starts to help ensure that you never miss an event.
It even reveals the little Calendar icon that’s going to appear in Windows Live Mail:
  • Windows Live Toolbar
Windows Live Calendar Beta is a free online calendar program that you can use to keep track of personal appointments, family get-togethers, group schedules, birthdays, holidays, and other events. When you’re signed in with your Windows Live ID, you can always see a summary of your calendar on Windows Live Toolbar Beta, and the Calendar Beta website is just a click away.

Windows Live Wave 3

As we have already reported the Windows Live product page and the search page both have been changed.

Let us discuss on some of the new things added in Windows Live Wave 3

New unified header

The new header would be added to the online services of Windows Live. One thing to note is that they have removed the ORB from the header, and the search box has also been made smaller and also according to the information available the users would be able to customize the header images.

Here is the one image of header that I found while searching-

The header seems interesting isn’t it.The header image did give ‘wow’ feeling.

Windows Live Messenger

As we know that the Windows Live messenger 9 is already currently in testing stage.Though the Windows Live Messenger M1 has already been leaked and most of the people would be using it still their is some more goodies to come for all the messenger lovers.According to the sources they are going to change the design of the Windows Live messenger 9.Still the new features expected in Windows Live Messenger 9 are editing, polygamy and ofcourse multiple logins.

Windows Live Photo Gallery

The coming version of Windows Live Photogallery would be surely awesome with some good features coming in it.One of the confirmed feature is the face reorganization. Here is the image that we were able to find on the net-

Windows Live Hotmail

The information about Windows Live Hotmail is very less though we could expect an integration with Windows Live SkyDrive (service virtual disk with a capacity of 5GB that, who knows, may also be increased, although the chances of it happen to be low) and would also bring a  new feature, called People, although the information about this release is very less.

We are also expecting integration of Windows Live Calender in Windows Live mail though the information about it is very less.

To sum up the Windows Live Wave 3 would be really awesome with many surprises in it.We would be keeping you updated about anything we find about Windows Live Wave 3.
